38th year of Don King Days: polo, steer roping, and invitational bronc riding over Labor Day weekend. Gates open at 9 am both days, events start at 11 am. Live music at the clubhouse after the field action. The family-oriented celebration honors renowned saddle maker Don King in the open, no-fence setting of the Big Horn Equestrian Center in the mountain foothills south of Sheridan. First Interstate Bank will serve as the Platinum Community Partner host. Cost is $25 per person, which includes the program and lunch buffet. Seating is limited! Come join us on September 9 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm at the Sheridan Cemetery as we help clean headstones of veterans and others in our community in preparation for the 9/11 Day of Remembrance. You are invited to join us for a special screening of current artist-in-residence Emily Harrold’s short film “Meltdown in Dixie” at Sheridan College Kooi Library on Wednesday, September 9, at 6 p.m. “Meltdown in Dixie” is about BBQ, ice cream, and the broader role of Confederate symbolism in the 21st century and the lingering racial oppression which symbols such as this help maintain. After the 40-minute screening, we will have a brief Q&A with Emily. This event is free and open to the public.
